Jason Wolter’s ’71 442
This is my car, a 1971 Oldsmobile 442. It can be seen cruising around Southern CA. or more specifically Palm Springs, CA. Although it’s not a numbers matching car, it is still one of the nicest and fastest around.
It originally came with a 350 2 barrel and a turbo 350 trans. It gave me many miles of good service. And I made sure the A/C got fixed, cause you have enjoy the ride especially here in the desert. About a year ago I bought a 455 engine to rebuild for it. During the rebuild I came across some Mondello bracket ported and Polished “C” heads and ended up with a pretty stout motor. I ran the engine for a few months with the stock tranny and rear end and it held up somehow! I only ran it once at Pomona raceway and I got a time of 14.2 @ 102MPH with 2:73 gears. Since then I have changed the oil pan to a 7 quart and installed a nice Engle cam. I also changed the tranny to a TH400, and installed 12 bolt 3:55 posi. I have yet to run it on a track but it’s much faster than it was! I love to cruise so if there is anywhere in Southern CA let me know. Olds rule!
